Teaching

Space Technology Centre staff are involved in lecturing and practical teaching for a number of subjects including:

  • Software engineering
  • Algorithms and data structures
  • Computer graphics

We also offer a dedicated fourth-year course on Space Technology as part of the 'Research Frontiers' programme. The course is available to School of Computing students, as well as those following the MSc in Remote Sensing. The syllabus for this module covers the following topics:

  • Applications of space systems
  • Spacecraft systems engineering
  • Onboard data handling, including SpaceWire systems
  • SpaceWire systems development and test
  • Device driver development
  • Planetary landers and rovers
  • Testing vision-based guidance system
  • Planet surface simulation

Fourth-year honours project students have the opportunity to work with members of the group on space technology-related topics. Some examples can be seen on the Past Honours Projects page.
